What can a $10,000 grant become after twenty years? At Meridian, we don’t have to imagine the answer.

Where it started

In 2006, Meridian gave TLM in West Timor a $10,000 grant. At the time, TLM was reaching approximately 17,000 families — already meaningful work in a community that needed it.

Where it is now

Twenty years later, TLM’s reach has grown to more than 219,000 families. Take a moment with that number. A single grant, made two decades ago, became one part of a story far bigger than anyone could have promised at the time.

Built to sustain itself

Today, TLM has become self-sustaining, with Meridian reporting operational sustainability of 184%. That means the organisation isn’t dependent on the next grant to survive — it has grown into something durable, capable of carrying its own mission forward.

Impact that echoes

This is exactly what we mean when we talk about impact that echoes. The best philanthropy doesn’t always create a result that lasts a day, a month or even a year. Sometimes it helps build an organisation capable of creating change for decades. That’s the legacy Meridian wants to keep building — not simply giving money away, but helping great organisations become capable of extraordinary things.

And it all started the same way every Meridian story does: with people choosing to give together.
